What Students Say

"I began learning the harp at the age of 60... It has been 3 years and I am still continuing playing and enjoying the harp, all thanks to Dora... learning the harp has helped me relax my mind and improve my hand coordination."

- Mary T

"As an absolute beginner, with no prior music background, learning the harp seemed daunting, but Dora has made it an incredibly rewarding experience. She is patient, approachable and tailors each lesson..."

- Edwin B

"Learning the harp is a childhood dream come true. Dora is a patient, observant and accommodating teacher and has guided me over the past year on the proper techniques of harp playing. Every lesson she spots the mistakes I didn’t even notice I was making and makes good suggestions on how I can improve on them. I would not be at the level I am now if I tried to self-teach myself using videos."

Why should adults learn music?

Engage cognitive function

Learning to play music requires the use of various senses, and engages parts of the brain that control physical movement, audio and visual functions.

Relieve stress

Studies have shown that endorphins are released in our bodies when playing or listening to music. Take a break from the busyness of life and have fun acquiring a new skill!

Improve memory

Structural changes occur in the brain while learning music over a period of time.

Music can help to boost confidence

It takes courage to play in front of an audience. It could be just your partner or family but nerves are real! Once you have mastered a piece of music, or play in front of an audience, you will feel a sense of accomplishment.

“Faith received her grade 4 results today, she did very well with a distinction and we are very pleased. Thank you for your guidance and teaching."

"As an adult learner, I always thought that learning a new instrument will definitely be tough, especially the harp which at first looks incredibly complex! But Dora's patience and constant encouragement ever since the beginning has made the journey so much easier. What I enjoy most about her lessons is that we are taught to understand the music and convey those feelings to others.

Dora tailors her teaching to fit her students' needs, making every lesson enjoyable. Looking back, I managed to see my progress and how much l've learnt!"
