Harp Lessons for Children

Give your child the gift of music

Private harp lessons for children in Singapore, from age 6 — nurturing curiosity, building confidence, and inspiring a lifelong love of music.

Introductory / Holiday Programme
4 lessons · All ages from 6 · Beginners welcome
1

A fun, low-commitment introduction to the harp!

The Introductory / Holiday Programme offers a gentle, structured start to the harp. From the very first lesson, your child will hold a real harp, learn the strings, read a note, and play a simple song — all in a relaxed, one-to-one setting at their own pace.

Over four lessons, your child will build the essential foundations: proper posture and hand technique, identifying the strings, and reading simple notes. By the end, they'll have a real feel for the instrument — and you'll have a clear sense of whether they'd like to continue.

Perfect for curious beginners, school holiday activities, and children who want to explore the harp before committing to regular lessons.

Not sure if 4 lessons is right? Start with a single introductory lesson first, just let us know your preference  — trial lesson rates apply.

Trial lesson — for children with harp experience
1 lesson · For children who have learned harp before

If your child has previously learned the harp and is looking for a new teacher to continue with, a single, non-obligatory trial lesson is the best place to start. Dora will assess where your child currently is, understand their goals, and discuss how ongoing lessons can be structured to suit them — before any longer commitment is made.

Ongoing lessons — guided, personal, and encouraging
Beginner to Diploma Levels · Exam track or leisure pace.

For children who are ready to make the harp a regular part of their lives, ongoing lessons are shaped entirely around your child's goals. Some children work towards ABRSM graded exams; others simply want to grow as musicians and play music they love — both are equally welcome here.

Lessons build on a strong technical foundation while nurturing genuine musical understanding. Children learn to listen deeply, express feeling through playing, and develop the focus and self-discipline that come naturally with consistent practice. Principles from the Alexander Technique are woven in throughout, helping children build healthy posture and body awareness from an early age.

More than just music

What your child gains
Beyond harp playing

Listening Skills

Children learn to truly hear music — not just play the notes, but feel the shape and mood of a piece.

Fine Motor Skills

Plucking individual strings with precision develops finger sensitivity and hand-eye coordination.

Confidence

Every new piece mastered, every exam passed, every performance given — these are milestones your child owns entirely.

Cognitive Development

Learning an instrument doesn't just train the ear — it actively builds the parts of the brain that help children think, remember, and learn more effectively at school.

Discipline

Children learn early that small, focused practice sessions compound into real progress — a lesson that serves them far beyond music.

Lifelong skill

Few children in Singapore learn the harp. Yours will carry something genuinely rare — a skill and a love of music that stays with them for life.

Dora believes that every child who is curious about the harp deserves a teacher who is equally curious about them. She trained at the Royal College of Music in London — one of Singapore's first harpists to earn a degree there — and has spent the years since performing internationally and teaching students of all ages and abilities. What sets her apart is not just her credentials, but the genuine care she brings to every lesson. She notices what other teachers might miss, celebrates every small win, and never rushes a child past the joy of simply playing.

"She plays with great musicality and produces an excellent sound."
      — Daphne Boden, Harp Professor, Royal College of Music (London)
